DESCRIPTION

The workshop take place in the IED (European Institute of Design), into the Professional Mastercourse in Sustainable Architecture, which ARCò coordinates together with Riccardo Balbo.The one month workshop consist in a theoretical part, of which in 2013 the subject was the Urban Design of the Waterfront of Jounieh, Lebanon. Public spaces are developed as nodes of energy into the city, analyzing the theme of the productive public space. At the architectonic scale a refurbishment of a public building is proposed.Together with the theoretical part a practical one was planned and consisted in the construction of a prototype in which test the constructive techniques previously used in design: tyres, sandbags, straw, bottles, etc…The prototype, named ARCOTIPO 3, was realized into the Miraorti Area, in self-construction by the students.
